Saskatoon, SK – Morris Industries has supplied the University of Saskatchewan, College of Agriculture and Bioresources with air seeding equipment and a financial pledge. The Morris Contour Drill and EIGHT Series XL air cart is being used by the Plant Science Department and the Crop Development Centre. With approximately 3,000 acres of farm land for crop and soil research, the Morris seeding system will allow the College to be more efficient on their farm operations.
“Thanks to the generous donation of Morris Industries, the Kernen Crop Research Farm had the privilege of using a 41′ Contour Drill and 8300 Air Cart. The drill came equipped with 10 inch spacing and 3 inch paired row openers. The Morris drill worked extremely well at our Floral field sites”, says Kirk Blomquist, University Farms Field Superintendent.
In addition to the Morris seeding system, Morris has pledged $30,000 towards the building of the Grains Innovation Laboratory (GIL). “The work done at the GIL will have a tremendously positive impact on the grains industry and consequently on the economy of Saskatchewan. Your commitment to the College is a commitment to a successful future”, says Mary Buhr, PhD, Dean and Professor, College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
